Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact Review

August 3, 2018

I recently decided to purchase a phone that would work with Verizon's $75 unlimited prepaid plan. The XZ2 Compact is an interesting phone because it actually fits in a pocket while having features such as 4K HDR Movie recording, Super slow motion capture in Full HD at 960fps, Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 845, Adaptive Charging and Battery Care, and IP65/68 water resistance.

Specs are as follows:

Processor: Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 845
Operating System: Google Android™ O
Graphics: Adreno 630
Memory: 4GB RAM
Display: 5.0", 18:9 Full HD+ (1080 x 2160) HDR display
Dimensions: 5.3 x 2.6 x 0.5 in
Camera: 19MP Motion Eye™ camera
Storage: Silicon Power-256GB High Speed MicroSD Card
64GB UFS internal memory
Battery: 2870 mAh
Weight: 5.9oz
Networks: GSM GPRS/EDGE (2G)
UMTS HSPA+ (3G)
LTE (4G) Cat15 with up to 800Mbps
Connectivity: A-GPS, A-Glonass, Beidou, Galileo, QZSS
USB 3.1 Gen1 (5Gbps)
NFC
Google Cast™
Bluetooth® 5.0 wireless technology
Wi-Fi® Miracast™
SIM: Nano SIM

Probably my biggest gripe with this phone is the lack of a headphone jack, although it does come with a USB Type-C to 0.1in Audio Jack Adapter. The curved surface near the display edges make finger swipes that trail offscreen more comfortable.
